SIZE CHART - Barefoot shoes
PLEASE NOTE: Determine the shoe size directly according to the length of your feet. The inner length of the shoe is 12 mm longer than the foot length for the same shoe size. For example, if your foot length is 256 mm, you would select size 40, and the inner length of the shoe would be 268 mm. The values for widths represent the inner shoe widths at the widest part of the ball of the foot.Size EU | Foot length (mm) | Inner shoe length (mm) | Foot width (mm) narrow | Foot width (mm) wide | Foot width (mm) Extra wide - Plus |

If you are looking for advanced barefoot hiking shoes or just for shoes that you can wear for a walk in the forest, look no further! Barefoot hiking shoes Contact S2 have it all!
What are the main features of the Proalp Contact S2 shoes, and why choose them for hiking?
SOLE
Thanks to the deep vulcanized rubber soles, they offer excellent grip on the ground. As a producer, we stand behind their durability even when hiking in rocky mountains. Then, worn-out soles can be even replaced with new ones in our workshop. How thick are the soles? There is a 2.5 mm thick basic sole, to which 5 mm of deep profile sole is added.
STRAP
They also feature an adjustable strap around the ankles, which hugs and stabilizes the position of the feet in the shoes. The Velcro strap can be also removed on request. Combined with the flat and thin sole, you make direct contact with the surface while walking, allowing you to fully enjoy the experience.
MATERIALS
The materials used are locally sourced and of first-rate quality. We also provide servicing to ensure their long-lasting use.
The shoes are primarily made of impregnated leather, natural sheep wool, and vulcanized rubber. These materials are breathable and provide temperature insulation (they won’t make your feet hot in the summer, but keep them warm in winter), while nicely conforming to the shape of your feet. We also offer a vegan version made of high-quality microfiber, corn and linen fibers, and vulcanized rubber.
Ecologically manufactured sheep wool maintains its natural features and serves as an excellent insulator in cold and provide a pleasant and cool feel against the skin even in warm weather.
BAREFOOT HIKING
They possess all the attributes of barefoot shoes: your feet are completely unrestricted, able to move freely, and adapt to the surface naturally. There is plenty of space in the toe box, so you won’t feel cramped even when walking downhill. With these shoes, you can use your toes to grip the uneven surface you’re walking on.
Of course, wearing these shoes will greatly strengthen your feet, increase their capacity, and strengthen the muscles in your legs, spine, and entire body.
There are options for three different widths and half sizes, ranging from EU 36 to 47.
WATER-RESISTANT
The shoes ensure a good climate inside as they are made from only natural materials that allow the shoe to breathe freely and are thermally insulating for the feet, Contact S2 possess some features that resist wet entering into the shoes.
- The first such feature is the hydrophobic leathers used for the upper parts, requiring regular care with waterproofing agents.
- In wet conditions, the vulcanized rubber outsole prevents wet from entering the shoes and has a wall around the foot that extends 2 cm above the ground.
- With shoes constructed as described above, users have completely different experiences compared to shoes made of synthetic materials with a waterproof membrane, which we do not use in Proalp barefoot shoes. They allow air and moisture to pass out of the shoe, and natural materials provide thermal insulation. It’s important to note the significance of sock materials: quality natural materials like wool complement the mentioned features successfully.
FLEXIBILITY
Contact S2 is highly flexible, allowing for bending in all directions; see video here.
WEIGHT
The weight is expressed in grams and represents an approximate weight, which slightly varies depending on the weight of the material used for the upper part.

TRADITION PLUS FOOT HEALTH
We develop and manufacture them in our own workshop in Slovenia. The main role in the development and manufacturing of Proalp footwear plays the awareness about our health. We combine the century years old tradition of shoemaking with the understanding of natural feet movement. When walking feet are changing their shape, loads, and ground contact. Feet are persistent and dynamic by nature and have flexibility and strength, which is significantly loosened with the use of incorrect footwear. Proper footwear gives the feet full freedom of movement and allows contact with the terrain we walk on, which maintains and improves the structure of bones, joints and muscles.

By taking care of our shoes, we preserve their good appearance, durability, and resistance to different weather conditions. Below are some tips.
SHOES MADE OF SMOOTH MATERIALS:
- Occasionally, wipe them with a damp cloth, to which you can add a drop of mild dish detergent.
- When applying a new cream to the shoes, test it on a hidden area before spreading it over the entire surface.
- Once clean, apply a thin layer of colourless cream or wax, then rub it gently into the smooth leather with a dry cloth.
SHOES MADE OF BRUSHED MATERIALS:
- If they are dry and muddy, you can brush them with a soft brush.
- Occasionally, wipe them with a damp cloth, adding a drop of mild dish detergent if needed.
- Once clean, spray them with a colourless water-repellent spray, which refreshes the color, conditions the leather, and increases its water resistance.
FOR ALL PROALP SHOES, PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
- Dry wet shoes in the air, in the shade, or indoors away from heat sources.
- Never soak them in water or wash them in a washing machine.
- If you wish, during the off-season, stuff them with crumpled absorbent paper (such as newspaper).
HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE CLEAN AND CARE FOR OUR SHOES?
Everyone has their own criteria for this, but we recommend doing it several times a season.
