Our vision of developing and manufacturing flexible and spacious footwear from first-class materials led us to the new line of barefoot shoes: PROALP CONTACT SHOES. Like whole Proalp footwear, all CONTACT models are breathable, durable, and colourful.
The Proalp Contact model maximizes the contact between the foot and the terrain, as it is possible with shoes. When wearing Contact shoes, we do not feel tiny sharp stones and our feet hug the surface at each step. Much like walking barefoot.
The main development and manufacturing issue of Proalp footwear is the awareness that feet play a very important role in our health. When we walk they are changing their shape, loads, and ground contacts. Footwear should therefore not interfere with the natural movements of the feet.
The natural features of our feet are persistent and dynamic. Active feet have flexibility and strength, which atrophy with the use of incorrect footwear. Proper footwear gives the feet full freedom of movement and allows contact with the terrain we walk on. This maintains and improves the structures of bones, joints, and muscles.
Some of Contact’s features:
They are shaped in the shape of the feet. The forefoot part forms a shoe wide enough for us to step with the whole soles of the feet on the ground and all toes have enough space to spread and move. Particular attention is paid to the front inside curve of the shoes, which should provide ample space for the first toe, which is crucial for the gait.
Flexible soles allow maximum tilt angle and the foot arch can freely amortize loads during the walk.
Contact shoes firmly grip the feet.
Soft microfibre is used for the upper part and the lining, 3-mm layer of pure wool felt, optional artificial felt (in winter models with felt of 6 mm, including aluminum foil) is the best insulator from cold and heat.
The Contact shoes’ greatest feature is it is 2,5 mm vulcanized rubber sole, made from the finest mixture. It is anti-slip and resistant against wear. It has a 15 mm high frame, which allows walking in wet terrains.
The ‘microfibre’ material has been developed by experts, as the name implies, from microfibers that are to the maximum possible degree positioned as within the natural leather, except that microfibers are equally strong throughout the material. Quality ‘microfibre breaths just like leather and is, therefore, suitable for everyday wear. We must not forget that this material can be obtained in a very high-quality variant, which is highly air-permeable, or in a very airtight variant that does not breathe.
We, of course, rely on the best quality Italian manufacturer. We line these shoes with ‘microfibre, which makes them completely free of animal skin and are therefore also suitable for those who place a high value on non-animal origin materials.
Features:
Upper part: microfibre
Lining: microfibre
Sole: rubber
By taking care of our shoes, we preserve their good appearance, durability, and resistance to different weather conditions. Below are some tips.
SHOES MADE OF SMOOTH MATERIALS:
- Occasionally, wipe them with a damp cloth, to which you can add a drop of mild dish detergent.
- When applying a new cream to the shoes, test it on a hidden area before spreading it over the entire surface.
- Once clean, apply a thin layer of colourless cream or wax, then rub it gently into the smooth leather with a dry cloth.
SHOES MADE OF BRUSHED MATERIALS:
- If they are dry and muddy, you can brush them with a soft brush.
- Occasionally, wipe them with a damp cloth, adding a drop of mild dish detergent if needed.
- Once clean, spray them with a colourless water-repellent spray, which refreshes the color, conditions the leather, and increases its water resistance.
FOR ALL PROALP SHOES, PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
- Dry wet shoes in the air, in the shade, or indoors away from heat sources.
- Never soak them in water or wash them in a washing machine.
- If you wish, during the off-season, stuff them with crumpled absorbent paper (such as newspaper).
HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE CLEAN AND CARE FOR OUR SHOES?
Everyone has their own criteria for this, but we recommend doing it several times a season.
