We gathered a few reviews from our customers, who bought the shoes for themselves (independently) and gave us their honest opinion.

“I’m an avid hiker, so it was really important for me to find good barefoot hiking boots.
@proalpbarefoot Contact S2 are equipped with a Vibram sole, so the shoes offer lots of stability on uneven ground and work really well in all sorts of conditions, even wet and slippery.
It’s even more impressive that they feel lightweight and comfortable, and have a relatively great ground-feel.
I chose size 41 but they are unfortunately a bit too small. I heard I can take them back and have them stretched, so I’m planning to try that out.
I’m very proud since Proalp is a Slovenian brand and it’s nice to see that such high-quality shoes are produced in my home country.”

Years ago, I thought »Storžič* edition« of leather, barefoot shoes should exist. And here they are! After a month of regular use, I can finally give the review of Proalp’s barefoot hiking shoes Contact S2.
In this review, I do not want to write about ultra-light shoes with ultra-thin soles. Some like it and some don’t. For me this is dope, for some, it’s not. But I can tell that I would wear two other pairs of Contact barefoot shoes (bought in 2018 and 2019) more often if the sole would be less slippery. For me, this was especially not cool when I was carrying my baby on my back or in a baby carrier.
Proal’s Contact S2 shoes are now, that they got added Vibram sole and a solid grip around the ankle, truly versatile. I can have them for walking in the forest, for hiking and even for going to a city. The feeling inside and the grip are amazing. Years ago, I got used to wearing Campers and spoiled myself with using elastics as a shoelace, that’s why sometimes tying my shoes and Velcro takes too long for me. I simplified this process by skipping the third loop (from the top) and only tying the upper two with one lace at the same time (like the 3. picture shows). Forgoing on hill hike this is negligible
but for just stop shortly in the store … The Velcro strip has its purpose: It tightens the leg around the ankle and prevents shoelaces to untie. For that reason, I don’t need to make double or even very strong knots. It would be ne
cessary (which I already let Proalp know) to cut the Velcro strip rounder and not square, so putting it through the loop would be easier.
The leather is worn nicely, it breathes. In the fall they were never too hot or too cold. The addition woolen insole can also be added to them.

“Well, when it clicks it clicks!” Not only do I have a brand new pretty winter hat, but I also have brand new pretty running shoes!
My collaboration with Proalp started at the end of May 2019 when I attended a barefoot running event. There I bought my first Proalp’s minimalist running shoes. The minimalistic running shoe situation here is difficult. The running profession pretends we don’t exist or that we are some kind of weirdoes, who shall not be taken seriously. Despite overly present customers’ hysteria, they don’t like to put in at least some effort to sell us their product.
When I saw that minimalistic running shoes are present in Slovenia and are even made by our – Slovenian company I was extremely excited. The only problem was, I couldn’t find an appropriate “trail” version of the running shoe. The shoes that would have, besides thin sole, also the profile that would work in harsh weather conditions like snow, ice, and slush. This spring I read an article in a newspaper that introduced “the best” running shoes of the year. Of course, all the shoes were cushioned but a few pages forward there was a small advertisement for Proalps hiking shoes Contact S2. Even more, they had “the right” kind of sole!
“Would you make me running shoes with the concrete sole? “Of course, we would!” And they did. They promised, they will find even better material for the upper part, make the shoes and give them to me to test them out.
Today I got them. As soon as I got them, I walked them. There was no time to wait for snow. That comes later! My first impression after 25 kilometers is very positive. It would be even better if yesterday I wouldn’t go running barefoot (without shoes) for 14 kilometers.
To summarize. Long live Proalp and long live Kos!
