Matej Slapar, founder and manager of Proalp: “At Proalp, we select premium and ecological materials for shoes that are breathable and durable. In the future, we will continue our work with barefoot last shapes to provide suitable shoe shapes for everyone. By no means, there will be further development of hiking boots; we know that our alpine world requires shoes that are sturdy enough and suitable for wild terrains.
Our development will continue in the direction of using local materials and domestic knowledge, here I have in mind Slovenia and surrounding countries (mostly Italy, Austria). We firmly maintain the strategy of not buying shoe components from distant countries where we do not have contact with the origin of manufacturers and materials. Ecology has a very important role here.
We will continue our work in the direction of traditional shoemaking, which we draw from our ancestors’ shoemaking and we are very proud of it.”
